Week of October 26th- 30th
This week’s important dates:
** Look for math test coming home Wednesday and IXL | Fast facts letter!
Week of October 12th-16th
** I am currently assessing students on their basic multiplication facts. Based on their level of fluency, I will either be signing IXL or math fact practice nightly. We will be doing weekly progress reports to make sure students are learning their facts. They need to fluent with multiplication facts from 0 x 0 through 12 x 12. They also must be able to solve fast facts with automaticity, and not “work it out” through pictures. We want the speed and accuracy to be there now, so that once we get into our rigorous multiplication and division units, your child is prepared. Your child can make flashcards to help, or you can purchase these for $1.00 at Dollar Tree (just make sure they go through 12’s and not 9’s). I will be conducting weekly multiplication quizzes to gauge your child’s progress, and look for next steps. Once they have mastered the facts, they will begin working on IXL skills. Please just continue practicing math facts nightly until you receive a note home letting you know where students are and those that can move to IXL or those that will continue to need to practice their math facts nightly. Please e-mail me if you need any further explanations.
